In 2005 he founded TrueCar (NASDAQ: TRUE), changing how consumers purchase vehicles by providing transparent vehicle transaction data. He served as the CEO of TrueCar, taking it public in 2014. Mr. Painter also founded CarsDirect.com (now Internet Brands), introducing the first generation of online car sites.
